It was shortly after the opening of the Institute of Future Technology that the organization launched one of it's first major achievements. Inspired by the Pioneer probes of the early 1970s, Doctor Emmett L. Brown and the institute's Intergalactic Innovations division created a highly advanced satellite broadcasting a message of peace and goodwill for anyone in the depths of space who might hear it's signals. Little did they know they'd receive a response so soon. The Yolkians began their siege at the satellite's place of origin, abducting many of the facility's staff and volunteers, Clara Clayton Brown being among them. From her, the aliens learned that the Institute had access to machines capable of traveling through time, something which piqued the interest of the invaders.
