    At the edge of South Gotham, well-hidden by a lush thicket of emerald, lays the crumbling ruins of a Colonial-era fortress which once dominated the space now known as Robinson Park. Most of the elaborate stone constructs have busted to bits, and the roof vanished long ago, but even in it's current state beyond the point of repair there's still someone that calls it home. Where the black leather boots of colonists and minutemen previously marched now treads a single set of bare feet, whose soles are stained by the browns and greens of nature itself. Muskets hanging from rifle racks no longer adorn what remains of the broken walls, replaced by creeping vines slithering from between the smallest of fractures in the cobblestone. The furnishings of the old barracks were taken away generations ago, but the latest group of residents don't seem to mind, dreaming without a care or complaint in large pods of amber firmly rooted in the Earth.   The old greenhouse's steel frame shuttered with every clap of thunder that rolled across the skies of Gotham. Rain seeps through fractures in the glass ceiling high above, quenching the thirst of many of the withering plants that have neglected since their caretaker's departure several weeks back. Then, as if all of their prayers had been answered at once, they felt her presence. They couldn't see her of course, but they knew she was coming. The door creaked open. She had come back. Her fingers unfastened the buttons of the wet crimson shirt, letting it slip from her shoulders and onto the floor. There was nothing to cover her exposed body from prying eyes, but she knew with absolute certainty that no one else was around. She began to tread silently through the unruly conservatory, reveling in the touch of the rich brown soil upon her soles, reforging her connection to the greenery surrounding her with every step .   A descendant of Superman in the 30th Century, Laurel Kent inherited her alien ancestor's power of invulnerability (along with some limited super-strength). Because of her impervious skin, Laurel saw little need for an elaborate costume, and preferred to cover herself with a simple red poncho-like cape. Laurel eventually joined the training academy of the Legion of Super-Heroes after being denied instant acceptance to the team, where she pushes herself to the limit to better understand and control her powers and abilities.   In a dystopian future of the Marvel Universe, the daughter of Peter Parker finds herself the subject of an attack from the Venom symbiote. Instead of losing herself to the creature's aggressive nature as her father almost did years ago, May Parker's powers managed to eradicate the alien's hostile nature and brought it fully under her control. Now, May embraces the symbiote as an extension of herself, swinging across the dreary New York skyline as the new Venom... A few months prior to making this image, I did one of my "fancasting" pictures turning Ginnifer Goodwin into the Laurel Kent version of Superwoman, and shortly after that I began to wonder what Marvel Comics character Goodwin could possibly play. While I had put that concept on the back-burner, it wasn't until a recent rereading of the Earth X series that I found the potential role to put her in.
