  Near the end of this past summer, my original " Lea Thompson as comic Beverly Switzler " images from 2019 saw a sudden burst of favorites on DeviantArt from out of nowhere. I don't know why, but they just did. I also knew my DeviantArt anniversary would be coming up soon, and like I've said before, I'm a bit embarrassed with how those early images look now compared to my more recent material, and I thought it would be fun to take another crack at the concept ( again ). To make a long story short, things happened and I pushed it back in favor of focusing on the far more pop-culturally relevant Doctor Who and Poison Ivy images to be posted in the weeks around Halloween.   Inspired by symbiotestory's Hydra Peggy Cater story (which was inspired by my own Peggy Carter: Host of The Hydra image), I put together this pin-up influenced by 1940s movie posters and the Agent Carter television show.   Sokovia, 1947 The echos of the preceding gunfight still reverberated off the concrete corridors of the bunker as Peggy Carter slowly came out from behind her cover. About a dozen bodies of Hydra troops laid on the ground, her deadly marksmanship having stopped them in their tracks. She had failed to notice it at first, not until her boot stepped upon the slowly growing puddle underneath, but the large glass tank beside the wooden crates that shielded her from the enemy's hot lead had been struck by a stray bullet. Peggy moved around to the front of the tank, looking at the strange mass which floated in the quickly draining water. Suddenly, the mass opened an obsidian eye. Before Carter could react, the clump of flesh threw itself against the tank where the projectile hit. Glass and water knocked Peggy to the floor as the heap rode out the current to freedom.   In a dystopian future of the Marvel Universe, the daughter of Peter Parker finds herself the subject of an attack from the Venom symbiote. Instead of losing herself to the creature's aggressive nature as her father almost did years ago, May Parker's powers managed to eradicate the alien's hostile nature and brought it fully under her control. Now, May embraces the symbiote as an extension of herself, swinging across the dreary New York skyline as the new Venom... A few months prior to making this image, I did one of my "fancasting" pictures turning Ginnifer Goodwin into the Laurel Kent version of Superwoman, and shortly after that I began to wonder what Marvel Comics character Goodwin could possibly play. While I had put that concept on the back-burner, it wasn't until a recent rereading of the Earth X series that I found the potential role to put her in.   On a mission to the planet Zeltros to seek military aid from the planet's leaders, a party held in honor of the arrival of the Rebel Alliance leaders is interrupted by the Nagai and the Tofs. Separated from Luke, Han, Lando, and Chewie, Leia is captured as the Nagai take the palace and it's party-goers hostage. Eventually managing to escape, Leia picks up a blaster and kicks off her one remaining high-heel (having lost the other during her capture), sneaking through the palace armed and barefoot in her reflective golden dress.  In the mid-1980s, Marvel Comics had done some "photograph covers" on a few of their books . Inspired by these low-budget (but charming) images, I gave Carrie Fisher the blaster and golden dress which Leia wore in Star Wars #106 (1986) and put her in a background inspired by the actual cover of said issue .
