Bettie Page as Poison Ivy: 1956
At the edge of South Gotham, well-hidden by a lush thicket of emerald, lays the crumbling ruins of a Colonial-era fortress which once dominated the space now known as Robinson Park. Most of the elaborate stone constructs have busted to bits, and the roof vanished long ago, but even in it's current state beyond the point of repair there's still someone that calls it home. Where the black leather boots of colonists and minutemen previously marched now treads a single set of bare feet, whose soles are stained by the browns and greens of nature itself. Muskets hanging from rifle racks no longer adorn what remains of the broken walls, replaced by creeping vines slithering from between the smallest of fractures in the cobblestone. The furnishings of the old barracks were taken away generations ago, but the latest group of residents don't seem to mind, dreaming without a care or complaint in large pods of amber firmly rooted in the Earth. Right now, they're completely ignorant of the world outside, unfazed by the sweltering summer heat blanketing the city and unaware of the presence of the femme fatale who had abducted them in the first place...
I had received a request from a user who wanted me to revisit my Bettie Page As 60s Poison Ivy image that I did almost two years ago. Though it's not explicitly clear in the text above, the story (set in 1956, a decade prior to when Poison Ivy actually debuted) is about Ivy kidnapping the wives and daughters of Gotham's elite, holding them for ransom until her demands are met (however long that may be). Bettie is seen here sporting Ivy's "Exotica" costume from the 1984 comic Batman #367 ("The Green Ghosts of Gotham").

My interpretation of the aforementioned "Exotica" costume. |
The cocoons holding Ivy's captives are inspired by the pod seen in Poison Ivy's origin story told in Countdown #37. |
